27th November- Morning Safari

Good morning all,

This morning we found our resident lion pride not too far from the camp lying in a open patch of grass in a dry river bed. It was a great interactive sighting but i wanted to try something different photography wise.
I over exposed the shot and just for emphisis used a little fill in flash.

The image came out exactly as i wanted it to.

20/11/11 Morning safari

After being off the road for a few days now i finally got out in the bush. It was great being out. We had been tracking my favorite male leopard (Day One Male) and after an hour of not much i decided to carry on and try something else. We responded to the Shangwa female that was hunting in a thick gwarri section. She decided to get a bit of height to see if there were any prey species in the area and scaled a small tree.

The lighting and the background wasn't the best but i managed to make the most of what i had.

Shangwa perusing the menu.

And a little something else i SPOTTED, hahahahahah.

Hope you enjoy and keep clicking!!!!

13/11/11

Last night Evert and i decided to go out and do some night time photography. We had a few ideas that we wanted to try. As it was full moon and we have a scrotching hot day of 39 deg celcius we were also expecting clear skys.

We tried for an hour trying star trails with Chameleon etc, etc but werent having much joy. We then moved on to try chameleon and full moon rising with not much joy. I then brought out my small torch and was just looking at the shadows it was throwing on the chameleon, i spotted that backlighting on the chameleon came out great. I then chose my settings and fired away!!!!!

This was the only keep of the evening and i am soo stoked with it.

Enjoy.

4.11.11 Morning Safari.

We woke up to a sunrise this morning, the first in 10 days. After tracking (for a short while) we found 2 lionesses relaxing in the middle of the road. We had already decided to head up north and look for the rest of the pride. it had been an hour of tacking and to no avail we decided to head back to the river. We found this troop of baboon playing and foriging in a huge Sycamore fig. Again the light want coming from the rite direction and got this image.

Would you like a Fig?
Enjoy.

3.11.11 Afternoon Safari

Ok, so i missed a day of photography a few days ago but yesterday on safari we had some great light. There was a big herd of buffalo in the south. It took us a while to get there but as you will see that it was well worth it. Photos are mainly with good light coming from behind, but i thought ahead and used the setting light to my advantage.

Enjoy. Remember "The camera capture the image the eye envies"
